Bill (William Manuel) Johnson, bass player who also played banjo, guitar and mandolin. Not to be confused with banjoist/guitarist/singer Bill (William K.) Johnson (c. 1900 - 1955), who also worked with King Oliver, or alto saxophonist/clarinetist/arranger Bill (William) Johnson (1912 - 1960), who worked with Erskine Hawkins, or at least two trombonists, two trumpeters and a writer of liner notes, all named Bill Johnson.
