Coded Media Entertainment Studios also known as CMESTUDIOS is a record label & entertainment company headquartered in South Africa. The company has been providing high quality music and entertainment since its establishment in 2015. Our mission is to produce and manage world class entertainment through music and visuals.

Coded Media Entertainment Studios has been built up from the ground with by its founder Mr Kgopotso Malatji and has gained strength over time by overcoming challenges of the entertainment industry.

We have a vision that is clear and in perfect harmony with our business operations. Our vision is to create a company that provides life changing opportunities to its artists.

History

Founder and CEO Kgopotso Malatji began his music journey as a record producer in 2008, producing mainly for local upcoming artists. Malatji later produced a Mix tape while registered as a full time student at the University of Limpopo in 2013 which gave him the idea to use the recognition to start his own Record Label. It wasn't until 2015 that Kgopotso opened the label from his single room while at the University. Following the registration of the company in 2015, Malatji released his first mix tape under the newly founded company; however the mix tape was criticized after the label failed to secure any successful deals for post-production and promotional materials which would expand the release to a bigger audience. The label would later face even more disappointments as the distribution of the music produced became problematic despite attempts to secure any joint deals for distribution with South African distributors. In 2015, a Mankweng based rapper Khai was signed to Coded Media Entertainment Studios and added to the roster. On October 23 the label released a single title "Rea Bereka" which featured appearances coming from certain Limpopo regions, amongst them was record producer Psyrup and Sadymole who are old friends of Khai. All songs by the rapper were mixed and engineered by Kgopotso Malatji at the time. Khai went on to release a few more singles which helped the record label gain a broader fan base and most importantly for the company it gained trust after the criticism of the first label release.

Coded Media Entertainment Studios was now being recognized by other artists and labels, gaining even more fans along the way. In 2016, a Polokwane based artist, Bombastic the Rapper was signed with Coded Media Entertainment Studios. Later that year the label released a hip-hop mix tape titled "Jwala". This would mark the first radio air play for the label; a single by Bombastic titled "Jwala" from the mix tape was aired on Caprion FM. In 2017, the company started a new venture of coproducing music and videos for other artists. This was the main thing Malatji had to do before he started the record label. The new venture was branded under Coded Media Entertainment Creative's or cmecreatives for short. It was during this time that Malatji formed relationships with valuable individuals and companies. Even after the venture ended, relationships with some of the artists who Malatji met continue on. Some of those relationships include friendships with R&b artist Filah lah lah who is well known for her music and collaborations with major companies such as Adidas. Other relationships include friendships venac rapper Mopedi, former Community Radio Station presenter Lekkersweet, YouTube content creator Thabang "4our" Laka and many more others who he has either worked with directly or indirectly in the studio. In 2018, Coded Media Entertainment Studios announced that it has signed a Bochum based artist and record producer Quali SA after he had been long affiliated with the company through the creative venture. In September 14 the label released an Extended Play project titled "Tour" which gave the label the strength it now needed to further its establishment. Following the success of the extended play release, Quali SA and Coded Media Entertainment Studios won the Old Mutual OMGwap On The Money competition with a grand price of R30 000.00, Quali SA took first place following an outstanding performance which featured production from the extend play release.

The Old Mutual OMGwap saw Quali SA share the stage with well know South African celebrities including Nicolette Mashile, Slikour, Sjava and Cassper Nnyovest. Old Mutual also organized a television interview for Quali SA with eNCA as part of the winner’s price. Coded Media Entertainment Studios signed another Polokwane based artist Jayson Tsebe, a contemporary singer and guitar player during the same year. The label released "Potential" an extended play project which was well received by the public community but Jayson and Coded Media Entertainment Studios relationship was later cut short due to production complications and release conflicts. In March 2019 the label hosted a one man show by Quali SA at the University of Limpopo and sold out the venue on the day of the event. The event featured appearances from up and coming artists from the University and other nearby places. Quali SA took the event to the next level as he was the main act of the evening. Coded Media Entertainment Studios has a video showing the day of the event on YouTube for public view. On June 25 a second One Man show was organized which took place at Polokwane Library Gardens Hall. In 2020 Coded Media Entertainment Studios relocated its operations to Johannesburg. The label now operates at Maboneng and all decisions are made from there.
