This compilation much shares a lot in common with Essential R&B Autumn 2006, which I have also written a quick review for. It contains a real mish-mash of clean radio edits and explicit album versions, however luckily it does not contain any throwaway remixes. Also I would say that this particular entry is more accurate with it's genres of "R&B" and "Love". Now although "Love" is more of a subject topic than it is a musical genre, I can safely confirm that almost all of the tracks featured on this album are about love - losing it, getting it, wanting it etc. However the album once again stretches the definition of "R&B" by including a few hip-hop entries, albeit maybe nothing as jarring as Autumn 2006 (50 Cent shows up again, and Keith Murray turns up).

On the quality front, you certainly get a lot of music for your money however this comes from a period where my interests in Contemporary R&B begin to falter as we enter the dawn of autotune and EDM influences. What is nice are the selection of "throw back" hits presented on this compilation from LL Cool J, Aaliyah, Blackstreet and Joe; however once again proving that the precense of "2008" in the title being a bit of a misnomer as some of these tracks date back as far as 1994 (R. Kelly's "Your Body's Callin'").
