Азис (Bulgarian pop-folk singer)

Azis is Bulgaria's most colourful star. A seven-foot, white-blond-haired, blue-eyed gipsy known for cross-dressing. His music is mostly chalga (commercial folk-dance music). He is enourmously talented and very charismatic. Azis causes some controversy in Bulgaria with his provoking gay appearance and on the other hand his campaigning on behalf of the Roma people. As an entertainer he has performed and recorded many popular and traditional songs. Azis's real name is Vassil Boyanov and he comes from a Romani lineage.
