The College Dropout (Review Copy for Entertainment Weekly)

~ Release by Kanye West (see all versions of this release, 17 available)

Annotation

Notable differences between this version (uncovered in September of 2017) and the retail release:

• There's an audio watermark for Entertainment Weekly at the beginning of each song.
• The intro track skit is longer/uncut.
• “All Falls Down” features a Lauryn Hill sample (ultimately unable to be cleared in time) instead of a live Syleena Johnson. West speaks to the sample of Hill before and after the meat of the track as though she were present.
• "The New Workout Plan" lacks the "that's right/put in work" refrain with no handclaps, shortening the song by about 30 seconds.
• “School Spirit” is uncensored.
• “Family Business'” uses an alternate piano take. The Dells' up- and down-pitched vocal samples are both less so.
• Jay-Z's laugh and shit-talking prior to "Last Call" are absent. The Bette Midler vocals & synth samples from "Mr. Rockefeller" are much louder/clearer. The synth sample comes in earlier & the original melody is much less truncated.
• There's a 22nd track, a reprise of "We Don't Care" with a Keyshia Cole feature.
• The entire release is unmastered.

Fan-edited versions of this release have surfaced online that remove the Entertainment Weekly intro tags.
