Annotation

The full version of this operetta has a duration of 2:45:00. Per the English Wikipedia, almost complete recordings were made in 1907, and then again in 1950. Most recorded versions today are abridged. Highly rated recordings of near-complete versions in the original German have been conducted by Otto Ackermann in 1953, Lovro von Matačič in 1963 (both with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf as Hanna), and by Herbert von Karajan in 1972 (Felicity Lott in the title role).
