The lyrics are from Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas, libretto by Nahum Tate. Purcell's actual music was not used, or even (intentionally) referenced. Simply the libretto itself:
"Great minds against themselves conspire, and shun the cure they most desire." - from Act III, no. 36. “Great minds against themselves conspire.”
